Hi Multis

Recently, you got fewer articles from me. That's because I was in Omaha. There were so many networking events there. I always have the feeling that I become a better investor by being surrounded by other investors from all over the world.

You can talk to fund managers, analysts, individual investors, listen to stock market icons (Bill Ackman, Monish Pabrai,...) and talk about investing to almost every stranger that's sipping a beer next to you in the pub.

Omaha is really the Woodstock of Capitalism, meaning that you don't just go for the main act (Warren Buffett) but also for all the side stages and for the atmosphere of being surrounded by people who share your interest and are there to have a good time. I think it will continue even if Warren Buffett is no longer there. Too many people have a great time meeting other investors. And just to be sure, Warren said he'll "hang around" so if he's alive and kicking, I'm pretty sure he will be there next year.

Buffett was actually very sharp this year, much more so than last year, when Charlie Munger's recent death clearly had an impact on him.

The announcement at the end of the meeting that he will step down as the CEO later this year was very surprising. He had just answered questions for more than 4 hours and nothing pointed to an announcement. Even Greg Abel, his successor, and Berkshire's Board didn't know what Warren had planned and many had already left the stadium to be out before the crowd.

The day after I got home from the US, I had the opportunity to visit ASML. I was still very jetlagged, but it was fantastic. You can read my report about the visit here.

The rest of the week, I listened to earnings results. You can expect a few articles in the upcoming week. I fell asleep multiple times, as I still felt the bite of the jetlag, especially after the ASML visit. I hope I can finish this Overview Of The Week without falling asleep. :-)

Just joking, of course, as I'm very excited to start. This OOTW will be packed with interesting news of the last two weeks.

Interesting Podcasts Or Books

This week, I listened to the great podcast Invest Like The Best again. It was not really about investing, but on Founders, as the guest was David Senra, who hosts the podcast Founders. If you haven't listened to that one, it's highly recommended. Senra talks about what makes the best people in business so good and for investors, that's really important. You can listen to the episode here.

I have not listened to the next podcast episode yet, but I put it on my 'to listen' list. It's an interview of Meb Faber with François Rochon. You can listen to it here.

I was at a François Rochon event in Omaha. Unlike many others in the business who have a big ego, he's humble and down-to-earth. I talked to him for a few minutes.

As many of you know, I also have another service, Best Anchor Stocks, which Leandro runs. He also had an interview with François Rochon in 2023. You can listen to that episode here.

The markets in the past weeks

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were both slightly down this week, by 0.47% and 0.27%. The Russell 2000 was slightly up, 0.12%.

The Greed & Fear Index climbed from Extreme Fear (a score of 12) last month to Greed this week. It shows you once more how fast that market can react.

Quick Facts

3 Of 4 Best Stocks YTD are Potential Multibaggers

I saw this chart this week on X. These are the best-performing stocks in the S&P 400 (mid-caps), S&P 500 and S&P 600 (small caps).

With Hims & Hers, TransMedics and Duolingo, three of the first four are Potential Multibaggers. Just saying... ;-)

The Returns of the Potential Multibaggers

Here, we look at the return over the last week.

While both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were down, 11 Potential Multibaggers were up more than 5%. Out of 20 active picks. Not too shabby, right?
